Roads,Bridges and Transportation.
Interconsult engineers administers the design; construction and maintenance of transportation improvement projects funded through gas tax and locally collected impact fees. Traffic Engineering, which is included in this Department, oversees all signage, signalization and striping. This study is set out to examine the structure, capacity and performance of the
institutions
responsible for public road transport in Kenya, particularly with regard to
the matatu
(mini-public service vehicles that carry from 15-25 passengers) mode of
transport. It was
built on the structural-functional model, and guided by the assumption that
the institutional arrangement for public road transport in Kenya is weak and
largely responsible for the mess in the sector. In terms of methodology, the
study relies heavily on secondary data from official government documents,
statutes and other relevant literature as well as modest back-up primary
data obtained through focused group discussions and key informant
interviews. The initial concept note for the study as well as its findings and
recommendations were thoroughly discussed and endorsed by the
stakeholders in two different workshops organized at the start and at the end
of the study.
Building.
Construction and building inspectors examine buildings, highways and streets, sewer and water systems, dams, bridges, and other structures. They ensure that their construction, alteration, or repair complies with building codes and ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications. Building codes and standards are the primary means by which building construction is regulated in the United States for the health and safety of the general public. National model building and construction codes are published by the International Code Council (ICC), although many localities have additional ordinances and codes that modify or add to the National model codes. To monitor compliance with regulations, inspectors make an initial inspection during the first phase of construction and follow up with further inspections throughout the construction project. However, no inspection is ever exactly the same. In areas where certain types of severe weather or natural disasters—such as earthquakes or hurricanes—are more common, inspectors monitor compliance with additional safety regulations designed to cub this.
Infrastructure services
The basic fundamental structure of a system or organization (electronic, mechanical, social, political, etc.), determines how it functions and how flexible it is to meet future requirements.
We undertake all types of infrastructure construction works for both industrial and residential developers. Typical works include Highway Improvement and Section 278 works; access roads, car parks and hard standings; External pavings and landscaping; Installation of utility services; Remediation of contaminated sites. We are an approved contractor to most county and local councils, as well as to the Highways Agency, the Environment Agency, Network Rail and many utility providers.
Environmental impact and Social-Economic Assessment
We have been involved in River and Marine projects since 1990 and have undertaken many contracts for all types of civil engineering construction work associated with rivers and coastlines, as well as ports and harbours, from small scale short-term works valued at under £50,000 and lasting less than 6 weeks, to large scale long-term contracts valued at almost £2million and lasting for 78 weeks. Our clients include the Environment Agency, local authorities, port operators, internal Drainage Boards, Regional Development Agencies and private companies.

Urban and rural development
In addition, urban-interface type subdivisions within the Dixie National Forest, including those at Panguitch Lake, Mammoth Creek and Duck Creek, depend on the watershed for drinking and recreating.
The ability to maintain a rural, western way-of-living may be jeopardized by diminished resources derived from the watershed. Rural/Urban interfaces also influence natural and human communities by increasing wild animal/human interactions, decreasing water quality, and placing human life and property at risk to wildfires.
 Irrigation
Irrigation has been around for as long as humans have been cultivating plants. Man's first invention after he learned how to grow plants from seeds was probably a bucket. Ancient people must have been strong from having to haul buckets full of water to pour on their first plants. Pouring water on fields is still a common irrigation method today -- but other, more efficient and mechanized methods are also used.
